1. Aerial Assault Trooper
- How to get: Unfortunately, this skin is no longer obtainable as it was exclusively available during Chapter 1 Season 1.
The Aerial Assault Trooper holds the title of the rarest skin in Fortnite. This militaristic outfit, featuring tactical goggles, was exclusively available during Chapter 1 Season 1. Players had to reach level 15 and purchase it for 1,200 V-Bucks from the item shop. Its extreme rarity stems from the fact that most players at the time opted for the Renegade Raider skin instead.
2. Renegade Raider
- How to get: Like the Aerial Assault Trooper, the Renegade Raider is no longer available for purchase or unlocking.
The Renegade Raider, sporting a bandana and eye mask, is widely considered the second rarest skin in Fortnite. Like the Aerial Assault Trooper, it was only available during Season 1 for 1,200 V-Bucks after reaching level 20. Its status as an OG skin from the early days of Fortnite makes it an incredibly valuable and rare collectible.
3. Honor Guard
- How to get: Currently unobtainable as the promotion with the Honor View 20 smartphone has ended.
The Honor Guard skin really shows how some Fortnite outfits can be super hard to get. This one was a special bonus for people who bought the Honor View 20 smartphone back in 2018. Since the phone wasn’t that popular, not many players got the chance to snag this skin. Nonetheless, this is one of the rarest and most expensive Fortnite skins!
4. Double Helix
- How to get: The Double Helix skin is no longer available as the Nintendo Switch x Fortnite bundle has been discontinued.
The Double Helix is another example of a skin tied to a promotional bundle. This sleek black and red outfit was included with purchases of the limited edition Nintendo Switch x Fortnite bundle in 2018. With the bundle no longer officially available, Double Helix has become a true rarity.
5. Galaxy
- How to get: The Galaxy skin is not currently obtainable as the promotion with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 has ended.
The Galaxy skin, known for its vibrant blue and purple design, was exclusively bundled with Samsung’s high-end Galaxy Note 9 in 2018. The high cost of the device made it difficult for many players to justify the purchase solely for the skin, contributing to its rarity.
6. Black Knight
- How to get: As a Battle Pass exclusive from Chapter 1 Season 2, the Black Knight skin is no longer obtainable.
The Black Knight is a highly sought-after skin from Fortnite’s early days. It was the final reward in Chapter 1 Season 2’s Battle Pass, requiring players to reach level 70. 8. Reflex
- How to get: Due to its accidental release and subsequent removal, Reflex is currently unobtainable through any means.
Reflex holds a unique place in Fortnite’s rare skin collection. Originally an exclusive skin for a GeForce Bundle, it was accidentally released in the Item Shop for 1,200 V-Bucks. This mistake led to its quick removal and subsequent absence from the shop for over 5 years, making it one of the rarest skins in the game.
9. World Warrior
- How to get: The World Warrior skin was a limited-time offer and is not currently available for purchase.
The World Warrior skin was created to celebrate Fortnite’s competitive World Cup in 2019. Despite its popularity, it was only available for purchase during a single weekend. This limited availability has made it an uncommon sight in the game.
10. Shaman
- How to get: Originally available in the Item Shop, Shaman has not appeared for purchase in several years. Players can only hope for its potential return.
The Shaman skin, inspired by real-life shaman culture, has been absent from the Item Shop for nearly 5 years. The reasons for its prolonged absence remain unclear, adding to its mystique and rarity.
11. Travis Scott
- How to get: This Icon Series skin is currently unavailable as it was last seen in April 2020 and hasn’t returned to the Item Shop since.
Travis Scott’s skin has become one of the rarest Icon Series outfits in Fortnite. Released during his Astronomical concert event in 2020, the skin has mysteriously stayed away from the Item Shop. Despite being highly requested by players, it hasn’t made a comeback since its last appearance. While you can’t get this check out Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix’s battle pass skins for a chance at some other celebrity skins.
12. Rue
- How to get: Previously available in the Item Shop but hasn’t returned since May 2020 due to community concerns about the design.
Rue was removed from rotation due to unintentional design similarities to certain historical military uniforms. Despite some players requesting its return, Epic has kept this skin vaulted. So if you have, you have a very rare Fortnite skin.
13. Psycho Bandit
- How to get: Originally made available through Borderlands 3 purchase on Epic Games Store or Item Shop.
This Gaming Legends Series skin brought Borderlands’ iconic Psycho character to Fortnite. The promotion ended in December 2020, and the skin hasn’t appeared in the shop since its last appearance. So we don’t blame you if you’re itching for a taste of Borderlands in your Fortnite match.
14. Kratos
- How to get: This Gaming Legend Series skin hasn’t been available since March 2021, despite the success of God of War Ragnarök.
The God of War himself joined Fortnite during Chapter 2 Season 5. Despite being one of the most popular Gaming Legend Series skins and the release of God of War Ragnarök, Kratos hasn’t made a return to the Item Shop. Kratos is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after skin in the game.
15. Sofia
- How to get: Part of the John Wick set, Sofia hasn’t been available in the Item Shop since March 2021.
This outfit is based on Halle Berry’s character from John Wick: Chapter 3. While the main John Wick skin occasionally returns to the shop, Sofia has remained absent, making her considerably rarer than her counterpart.
16. Major Lazer
- How to get: This Icon Series skin was last available in June 2021 and hasn’t returned since.
One of the earliest Icon Series skins in Fortnite, Major Lazer’s outfit was released in Season X. The skin features a unique design inspired by their Peace is the Mission album. Its long absence makes it one of the rarer Icon Series skins in the game.
17. Snake Eyes
- How to get: Released to promote the G.I. Joe movie, this skin hasn’t been seen since August 2021.
The silent ninja commando from G.I. Joe made quite an impact during his brief appearance in Fortnite. It was released as a part of Arashikage Clan Set and hasn’t returned to the Item Shop, possibly due to licensing agreements.
18. Dante
- How to get: Part of the Muertos set, Dante hasn’t appeared in the Item Shop since November 2020.
This Day of the Dead-themed skin stands out for its colorful design. Strangely, while other items from the Muertos set occasionally return during relevant celebrations, Dante has remained absent for several years making it very rare.
19. Surf Strider
- How to get: This skin was exclusively available through an Intel promotion during Chapter 2 Season 3.
The Surf Strider bundle was a unique collaboration with Intel, requiring players to own specific Intel hardware to claim the skin. The limited availability and hardware requirements made this skin particularly difficult to obtain.
20. Fourth Down NFL Skins
- How to get: These NFL-themed skins haven’t appeared in the shop since February 2020.
The Fourth Down set allowed players to represent their favorite NFL teams in Fortnite. This particular set of skins hasn’t returned, possibly due to licensing changes.
21. Astro Jack
- How to get: Released alongside Travis Scott, this skin hasn’t been available since April 2020.
Based on Travis Scott’s alter ego, Astro Jack features a unique reactive style and color. Its absence mirrors that of the Travis Scott skin, making it equally rare and sought after. As such, the skin hasn’t been available to buy since 2020 so sadly you’re out of luck.
22. Eon
- How to get: This skin was exclusive to an Xbox One S bundle released in September 2018.
The Eon outfit was part of a special Xbox One S bundle that included exclusive Fortnite content. The bundle’s limited availability and high price point meant few players obtained this sleek, Xbox-themed skin.
23. Ragnarok
- How to get: This progressive outfit was exclusive to Chapter 1 Season 5’s Battle Pass.
Ragnarok was one of the most impressive progressive outfits in early Fortnite, requiring massive amounts of XP to unlock all styles. The difficulty of maxing out this skin during Season 5 makes fully upgraded versions particularly rare.
24. Red Strike
- How to get: This skin was available through The Red Strike Pack for $4.99 but hasn’t been seen since October 2019.

25. Cobalt
- How to get: Originally available through The Cobalt Pack for $4.99, this skin hasn’t been seen since March 2019.
Released during Season 7, this tech-ops-themed outfit features a mysterious operative in a striking green-blue and black combat suit with advanced tactical gear. What makes Cobalt particularly rare is its brief availability period.
