An incredible innings by Sarfaraz Khan had an anti-climatic end on day one of the third Test between India and England as he was run-out following a terrible mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja.

This would leave India captain Rohit Sharma absolutely furious as he vented out his frustration by throwing his cap off seeing the mix-up between both men, with Jadeja batting on 99.

Jadeja had called for the run before deciding to send his partner back. By then it was too late as Mark Wood was able to get the direct throw in to get the breakthrough for England.

Jadeja would complete his hundred in the next ball, which was his fourth in Test cricket.

How did Sarfaraz Khan Bazball his way to maiden fifty?

It was a truly emotional day for Sarfaraz Khan as he was presented the India cap by Anil Kumble, in the presence of his family. The 26-year-old came into bat when Rohit headed back to the pavilion following a brilliant 131.

Sarfaraz had a slow start, but the shackles were broken with a boundary off Rehan Ahmed. This was followed by the famed sweep shot coming out as the Mumbai batter started to take the attack to the England bowlers.

He took a special liking towards Joe Root and started to play the sweep against him with the desired effect. He would then start to target Tom Hartley, who he hit a brilliant pull off the back foot to race into the 40s.

A six from Hartley got him to close and a single was all that was needed as the Mumbai batter hit his maiden fifty off just 48 balls. This was the joint-fastest fifty by an Indian batter on debut and it seemed like Sarfaraz was destined for a big score.

The 26-year-old had scored 62 off 66 balls and his innings consisted of 9 boundaries and a six, before his unfortunate run-out on Thursday.
