Former skipper Michael Vaughan was critical of Bazball after the England batting order collapsed on day three of the Rajkot Test.

England lost 8 wickets for 112 runs on Saturday, as India took a lead of 126 runs.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Vaughan said that he doesn’t think the England bowlers will have the energy to bowl out India quickly because of the heat in Rajkot and the fact that they haven’t got much rest. The former skipper said that the English batters need to realise the importance of spending time at the crease as well, instead of just focusing on whacking boundaries.

It’s hard to think England’s bowlers will have the energy to take nine wickets quickly. It’s 36 degrees.

IND vs ENG, 3rd Test Day 3: Live updates

They just haven’t had enough rest. That’s why the batters need to realise the importance of batting time in Test cricket as much as whacking boundaries. Let your bowlers have a few more brews.

How did the England innings collapse on day three of the Rajkot Test?

England had started the day on 207 for the loss of two wickets, with Ben Duckett unbeaten on 133 alongside Joe Root. However, Root gave away his wicket, attempting a reverse scoop off Jasprit Bumrah, who dismissed the England star of the 9th time in his career.

Jonny Bairstow soon followed and Duckett was also picked by Kuldeep Yadav. While Ben Stokes and Ben Foakes got them to lunch without much damage, things turned around after the break. Jadeja got Stokes, which turned out to be his 200th wicket at home.

Foakes was caught off the bowling of Siraj, who would run through the England lower order. The Indian pacer, who had a tough time in the first day, would take three wickets and ended with figures of 4 for 84.

England went from 299 for 6 to 319 all-out in the space of 6.1 overs.

India would start off strongly in their second innings, with Rohit Sharma playing some good shots before being dismissed by Joe Root. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill would ensure that the lead would go past the 200-run mark right after tea.
