Al-Hilal has smashed the world record for the most consecutive victories in football with their 28th win on March 12, Tuesday.
This victory came at the expense of Al-Ittihad during the quarter-finals of the Asian Champions League on a Tuesday, propelling them into the semis of the competition. Al-Hilal won the match 2-0, thanks to goals from Yasser Alshahrani and Malcom.
They would win the quarterfinal with an aggregate score of 4-0.
This remarkable achievement allowed Al-Hilal to surpass the previous record held by The New Saints (TNS) of the Welsh Premier League, who had set a benchmark with 27 consecutive wins during the 2016-17 season.
TNS’s record itself was a milestone that had eclipsed the legendary Ajax Amsterdam’s 26-game winning streak, a record that had proudly stood for over four decades.
Under the guidance of Jorge Jesus, Al-Hilal has not only been breaking records but also leading the Saudi Pro League standings with an impressive tally of 65 points, maintaining a comfortable 12-point lead over their closest rivals, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr.
Al-Nassr’s recent exit from the Asian Champions League, following a penalty shootout defeat to Al-Ain, has further spotlighted Al-Hilal’s dominance in the region.

Speaking to the reporters, manager Jesus said that it was an incredible achievement and thanked everyone at the club. The Al-Hilal boss reiterated that he is more focused on trophies rather than records.
“This is truly an incredible achievement and I want to thank everyone at the club for their part in this momentous winning record,” said manager Jesus.
“As I have said throughout this period, however, records do not matter as much as trophies. It is up to everyone at Al Hilal to ensure that we close out the season as Roshn Saudi League champions and meet our targets in the cup competitions. Only then can we truly celebrate.”
The next challenge for Al-Hilal, as they continue their quest for glory, is a semi-final clash against Al-Ain. This match presents an opportunity for Jorge Jesus’ squad to further extend their historic winning streak.
Additionally, the team is set to continue their domestic campaign with an upcoming league match against Damac on Saturday, where they aim to further solidify their position at the top of the Saudi Pro League and continue their remarkable run of form.
