Legendary India batter Virat Kohli has said that he will never leave his Indian Premier League franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and will hope to realise his dream of being part of his side’s maiden title campaign. Kohli’s words only amped up the excitement amongst the crowd at the M Chinnaswamy stadium, attending the RCB Unbox event on 19 March, Tuesday.
While praising the loyalty of the RCB fans amidst their 16-year trophy drought, the 35-year-old expressed his hopes of being able to replicate the success of their female counterparts in their recent WPL 2024 triumph, by bagging their maiden IPL title.
“Hopefully we can double it up with the trophies, that will be something truly special,” Kohli said.
The batter went on to claim that he will never be leaving the RCB franchise, one which he has been a part of throughout his 16-year IPL career. Kohli also discussed his long-term desire to lift the IPL trophy to give the fans their proper return for their loyalty.
“As everyone knows, I’m always gonna be here, try to be part of the group that wins it (IPL) for the first time…I will try my absolute best for the fans, for the franchise…its kind of a dream of mine as well over so many years, to know what it feels like to win the IPL,” Kohli said in the RCB Unbox event.
Despite Kohli having a brilliant IPL 2023, which saw him bag 639 runs in his 14 appearances, RCB overall ended their campaign with a disappointing 6th place finish in the league. The side will be looking to bounce back from their dismal 2023 run and start off with a win in their IPL 2024 opener against long-rivals Chennai Super Kings on March 22 in Chepauk.
