Harshit Rana’s myth about his parents coming to watch him play was certainly busted after the pacer produced a star-making performance in the final over of the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23. The match at the Eden Gardens was truly memorable for Harshit as he defended 13 runs for KKR in the end to hand them the win. What made the occasion even more special was the presence of the pacer’s parents.
In a video released by the IPL after the match at the Eden Gardens, Harshit talked about his parents and revealed a myth he used to have in his mind about them being in attendance. The Indian pacer said that he felt if they were watching him play, he would perform poorly.
“This is the first time my father and mother have come to watch me play. Before this, I used to think if they would watch me play, I would perform poorly,” said Harshit.
Harshit, however, decided to have his parents come for the new season as he was starting the first game and he wanted to show them his performance.
“This season, I was playing in the first match. So I wanted to show them how I am performing in the first match,” said Harshit.
Heart rate was certainly high: Harshit on final over
Harshit had gone for six in the first ball of his final over but bounced back to dismiss the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen and Shahbaz Ahmed and hand KKR the win by 4 runs. The pacer said that his heart rate was high as the hopes of the fans were on him and there weren’t many runs to defend at the end.
“The heart rate was certainly high. The hope of the fans was on me and we didn’t have much runs to defend,” said Harshit.
Harshit would end the match with figures of 3 for 33 in his 4 overs.
