Australia all-rounder and Melbourne Stars captain Glenn Maxwell produced some moments of pure joy during their match against Sydney Thunder at the Big Bash League. Maxwell was mic’d-up during the match and spoke to the commentary team while fielding. Maxwell had a lot of jokes of Haris Rauf and his bowling plans once the pacer came into bowl while defending a 173-run target at the Oval.
Maxwell poked fun at Brett Lee, who was sitting in the commentary box and said that he never understood what the fast bowlers were up to. The all-rounder even joked that he was unfit to field and was giving away simple runs that he would have stopped even four months ago.
The Big Bash League posted a compilation of Maxwell’s comments during that game that had everyone in splits.
Stars lost their clash against Thunder by 5 wickets. Glenn Maxwell had an outing to forget with the bat after he was cleaned up by a terrific Zaman Khan yorker. Stars put up 172 runs in their 20 overs, which Thunder chased down with 5 wickets and 10 balls remaining.
Maxwell’s Incredible Tour of India
Maxwell had a sensational tour of India, which included the World Cup 2023. The batter played two incredible innings in the tournament – the fastest World Cup century against Netherlands and the first ever ODI double century while chasing. The batter scored the winning runs in the final as well to cap off an incredible campaign. Maxwell had been out of the Australian side right before the World Cup due to the flaring of his old ankle injury. After his return to home, the batter did not make it to the Test squad vs Pakistan and is playing in the Big Bash League at the moment.
