Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has found himself in a tough spot after the video of him slapping a fan went viral on social media.

While the timing of the video cannot be specified, it is believed that Shakib had gone to observe the proceedings in one of the booths as he was contesting for a seat in the parliamentary elections.

A large crowd soon arrived at the location once the news of the star all-rounder’s presence spread as they tried to catch a glimpse of him. A large group enveloped Shakib as chaos ensued with many of the fans tried to get close to the all-rounder.

One of them tried to grab Shakib’s arm, which didn’t sit well with him. The all-rounder proceeded to slap the individual and the video would then go viral on social media.

Amidst all the noise following the viral video, Shakib would get a big win on Sunday, January 7 as he got a Parliament seat. The all-rounder, who was contesting the election for the Awami League from Magura-1, won by a huge margin of more than 150,000 votes, according to reports.

According to AFP, the district’s chief administrator Abu Naser Beg said that it was a ‘landslide victory.’

Shakib’s last international game for Bangladesh came during the World Cup against Sri Lanka. The all-rounder wasn’t in the best of form during the tournament as Bangladesh managed to win just two games under his leadership and finished eighth in the table.

Shakib managed to score just 186 runs in seven innings during the tournament and only got seven wickets and would also head back home ahead of Bangladesh’s final game due to an injury.
