Neeraj Chopra fractured his fourth metacarpal his his left hand.
India’s ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra was spotted with a plaster on his fractured hand as he received a grand welcome at the Sports University of Haryana in Sonipat’s Rai on Friday.
Neeraj was escorted by officials as students lined up to welcome the star javelin thrower as he appeared to have his fractured left hand in a plaster.
The students formed two rows and welcomed Neeraj to the Sports University with a round of applause.
“It always feels good to come here. I wanted to come here and discuss how we can increase the number of medals,” Neeraj said.

Neeraj came back to India earlier this month after winding up his season with a second-place finish at the Diamond League finale in Brussels on the back of his silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Chopra battled an adductor muscle niggle throughout the year and it also affected his performance at both the Olympics and the DL finale, where he also competed with a fractured left hand.
Neeraj injured himself in practice and X-rays revealed a fracture in the fourth metacarpal of his left hand as the injury forced him to be out of action for the remainder of the year.
“It is fine. The season has now ended, so it will recover well (his injury),” Neeraj said while talking about his injury.
Despite becaming the first Indian track-and-field athlete to claim successive Olympic medals, Neeraj failed to retain his gold medal at Paris as Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem clinched the top prize. Neeraj though is not looking too far ahead and said he will take it step by step.
“There is a lot of time in LA28; next year, the World Championship will take place, so I will prepare for it. Slowly, I will prepare for all the competitions,” Neeraj added.
Despite his good showing on the World stage, the 26-year-old was not able to break his ellusive elusive 90m mark.Neeraj though is not worried and feels it will come with time.
“There is time for that, no worries (chuckling),” Neeraj was quoted as saying by ANI when asked about the 90m mark.
