Australia’s star pacer Mitchell Starc made a young fan’s day by gifting him his signed shoes following Australia’s win over Pakistan in the 2nd Test match at Melbourne Cricket Ground on December 29, Friday. Australia defeated Pakistan by 79 runs in the Boxing Day Test match which helped the hosts clinch the 3-match series.
It was an incredible year for the Pat Cummins-led Australian team, who emerged victorious in the World Test Championship final, ODI World Cup final, retained the Ashes and concluded with a victory in the home Test series against Pakistan.
Starc made a promise to the fan after the lunch break on Day 4, that he would gift him his shoes and sign it, if the team managed to take all the wickets by the end of the day. Fortunately for the fan, the hosts accomplished exactly the same. Cummins was the star of the show with his 10-wicket haul in the Test match.
The heart-warming video captured this gesture and was widely shared on social media platform. The video showcased Starc’s act of kindness and it garnered widespread appreciation. In the video, Starc fulfilled his promise, bringing joy to the young fan. The video showed Starc handing over his shoes to the kid after the conclusion of the Boxing Day Test match.
The visitors put up a great fight throughout the 2nd Test match, but Australia capitalised on crucial moments throughout the four days of the game. On Day 4 of the 2nd Test match, Pakistan were chasing 317 runs in the final innings. Skipper Shan Masood stitched a crucial 61-run partnership with Babar Azam. Agha Salman and Mohammad Rizwan’s 57-run partnership even brought the target under 100, however, that did not turn out to be enough as the Australian pacers put on their afterburners to skittle the visitors out for 237 runs.
Cummins starred in Australia’s bowling attack and picked up his 2nd 5-wicket haul of the Test match. Pakistan suffered a defeat by 79 runs. Starc also made a notable contribution and picked up a four-wicket haul to guide his team to a memorable Boxing Day Test win.
Australia have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series and have maintained their win-streak against Pakistan at home.
