17:16 IST:

Pat Cummins joined Usman Khawaja in the middle for the last session when the Aussies were more than 100 runs behind. Both of them looked solid out there and slowly built up a partnership and at a good rate as well. The Aussie skipper was peppered with short balls, but he managed to stick around while scoring runs as well. He got settled and started to find the boundaries along with Khawaja, and they added 81 runs together to get them closer to the total. Even though Khawaja ended up as the first Test victim of Kevin Sinclair which brought out the backflip celebration, Cummins continued to attack the bowlers. He registered his third Test fifty and first as a skipper and remained unbeaten on 64 which is his highest individual score in this format. The hosts declared with one wicket in hand and 22 runs behind to have a go at the West Indies batters under light. Mitchell Starc created an opportunity but Steven Smith spilled it to get rid of Kraigg Brathwaite which you do not see very often. It looked like the Windies openers would see out till the end, but Josh Hazlewood had different ideas and dismissed Tagenarine Chanderpaul in the last over before Stumps which gives the Aussies momentum going into the ‘Moving Day’.
