Babar Azam is currently nearing 2 major landmarks in his T20 career as he gets set to play for the Peshawar Zalmi in the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024.

Babar is only 74 runs away from completing 10K runs in T20 cricket. Only 12 batters; Chris Gayle, Shoaib Malik, Kieron Pollard, Alex Hales, David Warner, Virat Kohli, Aaron Finch, Rohit Sharma, Josh Buttler, Colin Munro, James Vince and David Miller have reached the milestone.

Babar is also 65 runs away from becoming the first batter in the history of the PSL to score 3000 runs. The 29-year-old is currently the tournament’s all-time top run-getter, having notched 2935 runs from 79 matches at an average of 43.8 and a strike-rate of 124.84 with a century and 28 fifties to his name.

Babar has a chance to reach both milestones when the Zalmi lock horns with Rilee Rossouw’s Quetta Gladiators on Sunday, February 18 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Babar Azam in brilliant form in T20s

Before his stint with the Zalmi in the PSL, Babar played for the Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He made an exit from the BPL as the leading run-scorer, although Durdanto Dhaka’s Mohammad Naim Sheikh replaced him later.

In 9 matches, Babar racked up 251 runs at an average of 50.2 and a strike-rate of 114.61 with 2 half-centuries and a top score of 62 to his name.

Barring the match against Khulna Tigers where he scored only 2 runs, Babar showed great form throughout. He also notched half-centuries against Dhaka and Sylhet Strikers.

Babar has been an asset for whichever teams he has played for. Prior to playing for the Zalmi, Babar also performed well for the Karachi Kings.
