When Rafael Nadal announced his comeback in January and Novak Djokovic made his Golden Slam intentions clear at the start of 2024, not many would have hoped for a final between Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner in Melbourne Park. But here they are. The two young men have played some brilliant tennis to give themselves a chance to win their maiden Australian Open crown.
Jannik Sinner, the 22-year-old Italian, produced the biggest shock of the tournament, outclassing Novak Djokovic in 4 sets and ending the Serb’s 33-match unbeaten run in Melbourne Park.
On the other hand, Daniil Medvedev fought back from 2 sets down to beat Alexander Zverev, who had beaten Carlos Alcaraz, to make it to his 3rd Australian Open final.
