RCB captain Faf du Plessis said it was refreshing to see that Virat Kohli still maintains the same passion for the game after the star batter masterminded RCB’s win over PBKS on March 25, Monday. Kohli scored a blistering 77 as RCB won the match by 4 wickets to register their first win of the campaign. While Dinesh Karthik and Mahipla Lomror would get the team over the finishing line, Kohi had set the tone for the chase with his 51st IPL fifty.
Du Plessis heaped praise on Kohli during the post-match presentation following the win, and said that the star batter had maintained a good tempo throughout his innings, which was important for the side.
Du Plessis would then say that Kohli is always smiling and enjoying the game and still is very passionate about playing cricket.
“Virat was important in the way he tempoed his innings. Wasn’t a pitch where you could hit through the line. Good to see him, he’s always smiling and enjoying himself. Still very passionate about playing cricket. Obviously had a nice break now which is very important. He’s still enjoying himself, very passionate about playing cricket. Fresh and motivated to do well,” said Du Plessis.
Didn’t feel the game was gone after Kohli, Rawat wickets: Du Plessis
RCB found themselves in a bit of bother when Kohli and Anuj Rawat were dismissed in quick succession. However, Du Plessis said he wasn’t worried at that time as Lomror was coming in and felt the Impact Player rule had helped them well.
“No I didn’t feel the game was gone. With the new rule, there’s an extra batter. We knew we had Mahipal coming in – has lot of power. Now with the extra batter you feel like even 14-15 rpo is gettable. Even 30 off 2 overs becomes a reality,” said Du Plessis.
Kohli ended up scoring his 100th 50-plus score in T20 cricket with his knock against PBKS and will now be turning his attention towards Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR will be coming over to the Chinnaswamy on March 28.
