As the welcomed the New Year on Monday, the cricketing fraternity wished their fans. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Wasim Jaffer and KL Rahul took to their social media to greet the fans on New Year’s Day.
India had a memorable year in 2023, reaching the final of the World Cup and the World Test Championships. Australia showed glimpses of their vintage self in a dreamy year where they retained the Ashes Urn, the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup, all under Pat Cummins’s captaincy.
The Indian cricketing arena is set to witness an action-packed schedule in 2024. The Indian men’s cricket team is set to play more than 10 Tests this year, which includes 5 home games against England and the much-awaited Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. The ICC T20 World Cup is set to be held in June this year in the West Indies and USA. The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League will also kick-start in a few months from now.

The former India Test opener Wasim Jaffer, as usual, was at his cheeky best on the New Year’s Day.
Cummins had an exceptional 2023 as he led Australia to victories in the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup final this year. He also retained the Ashes by levelling the series against England in England. The pacer, who had pulled out of IPL 2023 due to national commitments, secured a mega deal of Rs 20.50 crore with Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2024. He became the second-most costly player in the history of the tournament.
Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane, who is currently not part of India’s squad for the Test series against South Africa, celebrated New Year with wife Radhika and his children.
Sanju Samson also posted a special picture with wife Charulatha and captioned it as, ‘2024’.
India men’s team will be in action in the New Year’s Test against South Africa in Cape Town from January 3. Meanwhile, India women will look to end the ODI series against Australia on a high in the series finale in Mumbai on January 2.
