Former India batter Aakash Chopra has said that Virat Kohli will lose his consistency if he tries to do more in terms of his strike-rate in T20Is. Kohli made his T20I comeback as India beat Afghanistan by 6 wickets in the second T20I of their three-match series at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

IND vs AFG, 2nd T20I: Scorecard

Kohli made his comeback to T20I cricket after a gap of 14 months and scored 29 runs off 16 deliveries, smashing five boundaries against Afghanistan, helping India chase down 173 runs comfortably.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, Chopra said Kohli was stepping out from the first ball and played differently than he normally does in Indore. Kohli became just the second player to hit the 2000-run mark while chasing in T20Is.

“He was stepping out from the first ball, hitting over the top, and playing shots everywhere. I said he was also playing differently,” said Chopra.

He went on to say that Kohli is at his best, insisting that he may lose his consistency if he tries to increase his strike-rate.

“I feel Virat Kohli is at his best. He has scored more than 4000 runs at a strike rate of around 140, so it is good if he plays close to that. If he tries to do more than that, he will lose his consistency. If he loses his consistency, I will be slightly sad as an Indian cricket fan,” Chopra added.

India made light work of their 173-run chase at the Holkar Stadium to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in their T20I series, while extending their unbeaten run against Afghanistan.

Jaiswal, who missed the opening match of the series due to a minor injury, returned in Indore and set the stage alight. Jaiswal and Shivam Dube scored half-centuries as India chased down the target with 6 wickets and 26 balls remaining.
