The Indian team defeated England by a record margin in their one-off Test match. Playing in Mumbai, India hammered England by 347 runs on Saturday, 16 December, registering the biggest-ever win by margin of runs.

Indian team put in a combined effort in the match, wrapping the game up in just two and a half days. Youngsters Satheesh Shubha, Yastika Bhatia, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Pooja Vastrakar did well, and assisted Deepti Sharma well – who ran the show.
After their riveting win against England, India will face Australia on 21 December. Speaking about the one-off Test vs AUS, India coach Amol Mazumdar said that the team is riding high on confidence after putting in an amazing effort.
“It’s been absolutely brilliant. Amazing stuff from the girls. No Test match is easy. But the effort the girls put in before the Test match, and the people who came in 5-6 days before – had a solid group that was working at the Wankhede stadium. Good sign for Indian cricket. All of them who made their debut who batted and bowled well,” Mazumdar told the broadcaster after the match.

India ran through the England batting line-up in both innings. After they failed against spin in the first innings, India pacers Renuka Singh and Pooja Vastrakar picked 4 wickets between themselves to leave England reeling.
“England is a top side – no doubt about it. You’re talking about Stokesy (referring to Deepti). I jokingly call her Ben Stokes in the team. The confidence she’s carrying, and the confidence she’s gained. She’s an important cog in the wheel. We have back to back Tests – never happened before. We’re playing Australia in four days time,” Mazumdar concluded.
Deepti Sharma won the player of the match award in the Test vs England. She picked up 9 wickets and scored a half-century in the first innings of the match.
