The Indian men’s cricket team sweated it out during a practice session at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on the eve of the third and final T20I against Afghanistan. However, the focus of the practice session was a very special player, i.e. Rishabh Pant, whose comeback into the Indian team is being eagerly awaited by the fans.
Notably, Star wicketkeeper-batter Pant attended the team’s practice session and was seen interacting with Virat Kohli as the star players shared a good laugh. The duo were involved in a fun chat, showcasing the camaraderie between them.
The 26-year-old is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru as he continues his rehab from the fatal car accident that happened in December 2022. Pant has been on the road to recovery and constantly keeps the fans updated with the baby steps that he has been taking for a year to make a comeback to cricket.
Pant is expected to make a return to cricket in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, where he will be leading the Delhi Capitals. He recently attended the IPL auction in December in Dubai. Pant also spent time with MS Dhoni in Dubai and celebrated New Year together. After his return from Dubai, Pant went back to Bengaluru to get fully fit ahead of the IPL.
Talking about comebacks, Kohli made a return to T20I cricket after a 14-month hiatus during the 2nd T20I against Afghanistan in Indore. After missing out on the 1st T20I for personal reasons, Kohli marked his return in style as he creamed 29 runs off 16 deliveries, a knock that was laced with 5 fours and a staggering strike rate of 181.25.
As Kohli returns to his IPL territory, the Chinnaswamy Stadium, he will be raring to continue his stellar form and get into the groove ahead of the T20 World Cup. Amid much fanfare, Kohli’s return to his IPL home ground is expected to be a blockbuster one. Kohli just needs 36 runs to surpass Australia’s Glenn Maxwell’s record for most T20I runs at the iconic stadium of 139 runs. Kohli is just 6 runs shy of becoming the 1st Indian batter to complete 12000 T20 runs.
Indian cricket fans will be hoping to see both Pant and Kohli batting together in the T20 World Cup, which will begin from June 1.
