Pragyan Ojha heaped praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal after his knock against Afghanistan and claimed that the opener knows that there are only few slots available when it comes to getting a place in the squad for the T20 World Cup.
On January 14, Jaiswal delivered a stellar performance in the second T20 International against Afghanistan at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, India.
The opener showcased his exceptional batting skills by scoring a rapid 68 runs off just 34 balls. His innings were embellished with six towering sixes, contributing significantly to India’s chase of Afghanistan’s target of 173 runs.
Jaiswal’s aggressive play set the stage for India’s victory, as they surpassed the target with six wickets in hand and 26 balls to spare. This match-winning knock from Jaiswal, alongside Shivam Dube’s consecutive half-century, ensured India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Speaking on Colors Cineplex, Ojha praised Jaiswal for the confidence and maturity he showed during his innings and said that the opener was taking the game forward.
“The way he batted, the pace at which he played, the confidence he showed, he showed maturity along with striking ability. He wasn’t leaving the game. He was taking the game forward.”

The former spinner also stated that Jaiswal showed his hunger by scoring the bulk of the runs for India in Indore and said that youngster knows there are only a few tickets left for a spot in the World Cup.
“He scored a huge percentage of the team’s runs. It shows his hunger. He knows very few tickets are available for the World Cup. If you have to get that, you will have to play like this and it’s extremely important that you finish the game as well,” the former India spinner added.
