India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal completed a thundering double century on Day 2 of the Test match in Vizag. Jasiwal, aged 22 years and 77 days completed his feat in 277 balls guiding India to a 350+ total in the first innings of the game.

Jaiswal was the standout batter in India’s first innings for India. The second-highest score by an Indian batter after Jaiswal was just 32 – by debutant Rajat Patidar, who looked impressive. Jaiswal hit 18 fours and 7 sixes en route his double century. Previously, Jaiswal’s highest score was 171, on his debut against West Indies.

Jaiswal is also the fourth left-handed batter to hit a Test double century. Vinod Kambli, Sourav Ganguly and Gautam Gambhir were the previous three to achieve the feat.

IND vs ENG, 2nd Test: Scorecard

The India youngster smashed a six and a boundary to reach his feat, while batting against England’s debutant spinner Shoaib Bashir. Both shots came off sweeps in the 102nd over of the match. Jaiswal took an aggressive route against spinner Bashir but remained reserved against the class of James Anderson on the day. Jaiswal’s innings helped India go past 350-run total which might come off later in the Test match.

Jaiswal was class apart on the first day of the Test match as well. The batter looked good against both pace and spin and batted with discipline throughout Day 1. At the time of writing, India were 381/7 with Jaiswal and Kuldeep Yadav batting in the middle.
