Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan said that he was left shocked by the fact that India lost the first Test match in Hyderabad against England. Pathan, while speaking during in an event in New Delhi said that he did not expect India to lose the first Test of the 5-match series.
Pathan said that India needed 200 runs when he was boarding a flight to Kolkata and the team had crumbled when he landed at his destination.
“I was shocked to see India’s defeat. I was taking a flight to Kolkata and India needed 200 runs. By the time I landed India had lost the game. I was shocked but I believe that we will make a comeback.” Irfan Pathan said in an Asian Legends League event.

India lost the opening Test match by 29 runs against Ben Stokes’ England. The batting line-up failed in the second innings against the spin bowling of Tom Hartley, Joe Root and Jack Leach and put themselves in a disadvantage.
Pathan however felt that India would make a comeback in the next match and said that the team would learn from its defeat in Hyderabad and hit back in the next game.
“We lost but that doesn’t mean our bowlers are not good. Our bowlers are proven, you can lose a match, and sometimes it is good to lose when you lose you get to learn a lot of things. I am confident that India will win. Before the beginning of the series, I said that the Indian team is strong and I am still confident,” Pathan told reporters.
IND vs ENG, 2nd Test: KL Rahul, Jadeja Ruled out
India will not have the services of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja in the second Test match. KL Rahul has copped an injury in his right quadriceps, while Jadeja has been ruled out due to a hamstring issue. India are expected to give at least one debut in the 2nd Test match of the series.
