Rohit Sharma was elated in the dressing room after seeing his batting partner Yashasvi Jaiswal score a blistering hundred to put India in full control of the Rajkot Test on day three.

After starting slowly, Jaiswal raced to his second century of the series and sealed it with a fine boundary off Mark Wood. Jaiswal was grand with his celebration but the cameras caught the Indian skipper also failing to contain his emotions.

IND vs ENG, 3rd Test Day 3: Live updates

Rohit was happy for his young partner, who reached the landmark in just 122 balls with 9 boundaries and 5 sixes to his name.

How Yashasvi Jaiswal put India in control in Rajkot?

After starting the day on 207 for two, England’s batting order collapsed under the pressure from Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav. Jasprit Bumrah once again dismissed Joe Root while Kuldeep got rid of Jonny Bairstow and the dangerous Ben Duckett.

England were bundled out for 319 runs, with India getting a 226-run lead.

Jaiswal was very timid at the start of his batting, with him playing more of an anchor role as Rohit was the aggressive batter. But once his captain departed, Jaiswal took the onus on himself to attack the England bowling lineup with some fine shots.

The opener, who hadn’t scored a boundary in the first 48 balls, would go on the attack in the second part of his knock and got to his fifty with a huge six. Jaiswal would attack the likes of James Anderson and Tom Hartley with relative ease and would race to his hundred to put India in full control.

Jaiswal would also go past the 400-run mark in the series and extended his lead at the top of the run-getters list. The opener played a heroic 209 in the Vizag Test, which laid the foundation for India’s win.
