India suffered a massive blow to their series against England after KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja were ruled out from the second Test match. Jadeja had suffered a hamstring injury on Day 4 of the opening Test match in Hyderabad, while KL Rahul complained of pain on his right quadriceps.
India named three replacements to the existing India squad for the second Test match. The Indian side handed maiden call-up for Sarfaraz Khan, who has been toiling in the Ranji Trophy for several years. In fact there was a furore over not giving Sarfaraz a call-up despite him doing sensationally well in the last three years.
India also brought in Bihar spinner Sourabh Kumar and dependable all-rounder Washington Sundar.
