Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) responded after Murali Kartik’s comments during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) attracted backlash. On Monday, March 25, during commentary, Kartik was heard saying, “Someone’s trash is someone’s treasure.”

The comments did not go down well with the fans who slammed the former Indian left-arm spinner for his remarks on the speedster. RCB, in the meantime, dropped a tweet, lauding Dayal for his impressive showing at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

“He’s treasure. Period,” RCB wrote on their official Twitter handle.

After being released by the Gujarat Titans, RCB bought Dayal for INR 5 crore in the auction that took place last year in December. Dayal did not have the best of times in 2023 as in one of the games against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rinku Singh hit him for 5 sixes in a row.

IPL 2024 Full Coverage

How did Yash Dayal perform against PBKS?

Against Shikhar Dhawan’s PBKS, Dayal was on top of his game. He got the prized wicket of Sam Curran and finished with impressive figures of 4-0-23-1. In fact, Dayal was the most economical bowler for RCB and helped his team restrict the Kings to 176 for 6 in 20 overs.

After being sent in to bat first, Dhawan led the charge for the Kings by scoring 45 off 37. Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell picked up 2 wickets apiece. Alzarri Joseph accounted for the crucial scalp of Liam Livingstone, who has been in impressive form recently.

Chasing 177, RCB lost Faf du Plessis and Cameron Green cheaply, but Virat Kohli kept them in the hunt. He scored 77 off 49 balls before Harshal Patel dismissed him.

Later, Dinesh Karthik stormed his way to scoring 28 runs off 10 balls as RCB romped home with 4 balls to spare.
