India pacer Jasprit Bumrah penned an emotional note for his late father, saying he remembers him with happy memories. Bumrah has been rested for India’s T20I series against Afghanistan.
The India pacer took to social media platform Instagram, saying his father’s void will always be felt in his life, wishing he was there with him and his family.
“Your void was always felt in our lives and since i have become a father myself i realised what a father’s emotion is and what i had missed in my life . As we remember you with happy memories i wish you were with us dad,” Bumrah posted on Instagram.
After playing a two-match Test series in South Africa, Bumrah was rested for India’s three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. He will be making a return for India when they take on England in a five-match home Test series.
The right-arm pacer has been named in India’s 16-member squad for the first two Tests of the series. In fact, he has been named the vice-captain of the side, with Rohit Sharma leading the team.
The first match of the series will be played from January 25 to 29 in Hyderabad. The second match will be played in Vizag from February 2 to 6.
Meanwhile, Ben Stokes will be leading England as they named a spin-heavy 16-man squad for the five-match series.
This will be the first time that India face England in a Test series since their revolutionary transformation under new head coach Brendon McCullum. Stokes took over from Joe Root and McCullum was appointed as the head coach following their Ashes defeat in 2021/22. The team has ever since played a fearless style of cricket that is popularly known as ‘Bazball’.
