Shreyas Iyer’s bad fortunes with the bat continued as he was dismissed for a duck during Kolkata Knight RIders’ IPL 2024 season opener against SunRisers Hyderabad. Shreyas’ highly-anticipated IPL return was cut short after he was caught out on only his second ball.
The KKR captain was the side’s third wicket of the night, which only extended their top-order failures against SRH at the Eden Gardens on March 22. It was SRH’s dependable pacer T Natarajan who bagged the wicket of Shreyas, marking his 50th wicket in the competition.
With SRH winning the toss, KKR were handed the opportunity to bat first at the Eden Garden on Saturday. However, the two-time IPL champions failed to build on their positive start by their England batter Phill Salt, after losing wickets at the other end in quick succession. With the dismissal of their captain, KKR found themselves in immense pressure at the very start of the game.
