Reigning Premier League champions Manchester City are, reportedly, looking to sign Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala in the next transfer window. With Kevin de Bruyne turning 33 a few months back, Pep Guardiola’s side is aiming to find a successor to the Belgian’s throne at the club. Now a report from TEAMtalk has emerged claiming that Manchester City are ‘firmly in the race’ to sign the young German. The same report further stated that the Premier League giants have also prepared a massive €100 million bid for the 21-year-old.
The only hindrance to Manchester City striking a deal for Musiala with Bayern Munich seems to be Real Madrid. As per TEAMtalk’s sources, the La Liga giants are also looking to bring the German into their squad next year. With Toni Kroos retiring from professional football, Real Madrid now, reportedly, consider the Bayern Munich superstar a top target for them in the next summer transfer window.
Another reason for Real Madrid to pursue Jamal Musiala is to add a ‘top-level alternative to Jude Bellingham’. The Los Blancos are now, understandably, prioritising a move for Musiala following an unfortunate injury suffered by Brahim Diaz. The ex-AC Milan forward’s absence from the squad has exposed Real Madrid’s lack of quality options in attacking midfield. This creates a lot of pressure on Diaz who will have to recover quickly for the second half of the season.
If Diaz fails to make a full recovery by December, it will likely prove to be a big blow to Real Madrid’s La Liga title defence this season. The report also claimed that the first few months of the next year would summarise Diaz’s position in the Spanish capital. If his performances are not up to the mark, chances of the potential signing of Musiala will likely increase.
Musiala was one of the star performers at the Euro Championship earlier this year. His brilliant individual series of performances earned him praise and admiration across the world. Real Madrid coach Carlos Ancelotti is reportedly a huge admirer of the German star. Musiala’s addition could certainly provide Real Madrid with cover for multiple positions.
