Maruti Suzuki’s inaugural EV to be its most high-tech car to date and directly compete with Hyundai’s Creta Electric
The Maruti e Vitara is still a few months away from arriving in showrooms, but new details continue pouring in, keeping customers gripped in the run-up to the launch. Recently, some fresh information about the car’s technical aspects has come to light.
When Maruti Suzuki announced the e Vitara at Auto Expo 2025 in January, it revealed most of the key specifications of the EV, but not the charging times. The company plans to offer the electric SUV with 49 kWh and 61 kWh LFP battery packs, and we have learned that both those units will be chargeable from 10% to 80% through a DC charger as quickly as 45 minutes.
Through a single-phase 7 kW AC charger, customers will be able to charge the 49 kWh and 61 kWh LFP battery packs from 10% to 100% in 9 hours and 6.5 hours, respectively. A three-phase 11 kW AC charger can cut those times to 4.5 hours and 5.5 hours, respectively.

Of course, the above numbers are just official figures based on optimal conditions. The actual charging performance customers will experience will depend on ambient temperature, the temperature, condition, and age of the battery pack, and various other local factors. For example, in cold weather, especially in northern and northeastern states that experience freezing temperatures during the winter, the required time would increase.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the e Vitara in two single-motor FWD variants. The base variant’s motor generates 105.8 kW (142 hp) and 192.5 Nm of torque and draws energy from the 49 kWh LFP battery pack. The top variant’s motor produces 128 kW (172 hp) and 192.5 Nm of torque and gets its juice from the 61 kWh LFP battery pack.

The e Vitara hits 0 to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds in the base variant and 8.7 seconds in the top variant and achieves a top speed of 150 km/h regardless of the powertrain. We expect it to deliver a range of more than 400 km in the base variant and over 500 km in the top variant. Maruti Suzuki will announce the final range figures closer to the launch, which it plans to conduct before the end of September.
