Vantika Agrawal, who starred for the Indian women at the international event, revealed that the triumphant Chess unit would meet the honourable Prime Minister of the nation on Wednesday.
The Indian men’s and women’s chess teams rewrote history books at the recently concluded 45th Chess Olympiad in Hungary as they clinched the open category and women’s second event titles in Budapest.
Following the iconic triumph in the Hungarian Capital City, the Indian chess contingent is set to meet the honourable Prime Minister of the Nation, Shri Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
Vantika Agrawal, who starred for the Indian women at the international event, spilt the beans during an interview following the historic triumph.
When quizzed about what was next for the triumphant unit, she revealed, “Well, an interview with Doordarshan and tomorrow meeting with the Prime Minister.”
The Indian premier has been a vocal advocate of the development of sports in the nation and has been at the forefront of the sporting revolution over the past few years in the country.
The Indian women’s team that picked up the yellow metal includes D Harika, R Vaishali, Divya Deshmukh, Tania Sachdev and Vantika, who all gave a brilliant account of themselves to clinch the top spot on the podium.
The men’s team comprising D Gukesh, R Praggnanandhaa, Arjun Erigaisi, Vidit Gujarati and, Harikrishna Pentala also clinched their maiden gold at the event as Gukesh led the line with an unbelievable demonstration of his wit.
With the performance, India went past their previous best outing at the Olympiad, back in the year 2022 at home as the men and women picked up the bronze medal.
