Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has said that the club does not have the players to compete at the top of the Premier League. The Red Devils are currently placed sixth in the league table, having succumbed to a 0-3 loss against Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Scholes said Manchester United don’t have the players to compete at the very top of the table, insisting that the culture of the club seems all over the place. United will be facing Bayern Munich in a must-win match at Old Trafford in the UEFA Champions League on December 13.

“We definitely don’t have the players to compete at the top of the table. We’re nowhere near that level. Even if this group of players perform to their very best, they’re just not good enough. The culture of the club comes from the training ground and the manager needs to get that right. It just seems all over the place,” said Scholes.

He went on to say that Manchester United should stick with head coach Erik ten Hag but admitted that he would be under pressure when new owners come in. Manchester United’s attack has been lackluster this season, with the team scoring only 18 goals in 16 league matches.

“I think for the manager, unless he gets something sorted pretty quickly, he’s going to come under huge pressure. I just don’t think changing is the answer, but you have to worry about it – especially when new owners come in. New owners like to bring new people in. He’ll be under big pressure if things don’t improve,” Scholes added.

Manchester United have amassed 27 points in 16 matches, winning nine and losing seven. They have a negative goal-difference of -3 and will face arch-rivals Liverpool in their next league match on December 17.
