Tottenham Hotspur secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Everton, pushing them into fourth place with 36 points, just behind leaders Arsenal and second-placed Aston Villa. Manchester City, fresh from their World Club triumph, slipped from the top four as they were not in action. Meanwhile, Arsenal faced off against third-placed Liverpool in a standout fixture at Anfield.

Aston Villa’s 1-1 draw against bottom-dwellers Sheffield United interrupted their remarkable 15-match winning streak at home in the Premier League, leaving them second on goal difference. However, Nottingham Forest’s new manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, faced a shaky start with a 3-2 defeat by Bournemouth, placing Forest uncomfortably close to the relegation zone, with Luton Town and Burnley making significant strides below them.

Only two years ago, Rebecca Welch became the first female to referee an #EFL fixture – Harrogate 0-2 Port Vale.

This afternoon – Rebecca is making her Premier League debut as she takes control of #FULBUR.

Richarlison and Son Heung-min led the charge for Tottenham with an early lead and a subsequent goal, respectively, setting the stage for an intense clash against Everton, who fought back with a late strike by Andre Gomes. Despite Everton’s efforts, they remain in 16th place due to a 10-point deduction, just ahead of Forest. Luton Town added to Newcastle United’s woes with a 1-0 victory, while Newcastle lost ground, now sitting in seventh place after a string of losses.

In other news, Andros Townsend’s goal secured a poignant win for Luton Town, marking his first goal for the team following captain Tom Lockyer’s recent recovery from a cardiac arrest. Newcastle’s downward trend continued with three losses in their last four Premier League games and an exit from the League Cup at the hands of Chelsea after a penalty shootout.

Furthermore, history was made at Craven Cottage as Rebecca Welch became the Premier League’s first female referee. Simultaneously, Burnley secured a 2-0 victory over Fulham, courtesy of goals by Wilson Odobert and Sander Berge.
