Rhythm Sangwan Profile Shooting Paris Olympics 2024, Women’s 10m Air Pistol, 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team: Know your Olympian
India’s promising pistol shooter Rhythm Sangwan is set to fulfil her Olympics dream in Paris. She will compete in the women’s 10m air pistol event on the grandest stage despite achieving tremendous success in the 25m category. Rhythm was an avid tennis fan in her childhood but shifted her focus to shooting at the age of 13.
Guns and bullets were nothing new to Rhythm whose father Narender Kumar was a police officer. She started shooting just for fun at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range before turning a professional. Her career took a leap in 2017 when Rhythm secured three individual gold medals at the National Shooting Championship. She also came second at the 10m women’s team event.
Despite her success in the sport, Rhythm Sangwan never ignored her academic career and is currently pursuing a degree in English literature. In the 2021 Junior World Championship, she triumphed in four different events.
A year later, Rhythm claimed her first senior-level medal, winning two gold at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo. She secured a silver medal at the Bhopal World Cup last year before emerging victorious in the women’s 25m pistol team event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Paris Olympics Qualification
Rhythm Sangwan helped India obtain the record 16th shooting quota for the Paris Olympics. She made it happen by winning a gold medal in the women’s 25m pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championships earlier this year. Rhythm, however, will make her Olympic debut in the 10m category while also featuring the mixed team event with Arjun Singh Cheema.
Recent Performances
Rhythm Sangwan has won four World Cup gold so far during her brief career. The latest title came this year in Cairo where the Indian shooting prodigy logged 580 points. Apart from the bronze medal in the Asian Championship in Jakarta, Rhythm also won silver in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed team event and finished third in the women’s 10m Air Pistol.
