India, on Sunday, December 28, beat the United States of America (USA) by 201 runs at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein and stayed unbeaten in the group stage of the U19 World Cup 2024.
After defeating Bangladesh and Ireland, India put in another dominating show, this time against the USA and will go into the Super 6s with three wins on the trot. The Boys in Blue finished as the table in Group A with 6 points and a net run rate of 3.240.
Arshin Kulkarni steps up
After being asked to bat first, India put up a healthy score of 326 for 5 on the board. Arshin Kulkarni was the star of the show for them after he scored 108 runs off 118 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. He got a supportive partner in Musheer Khan, who again showed his class with the bat in hand.
The duo put on 155 runs for the second wicket before Rishi Ramesh dismissed Musheer to separate them. Musheer, who won the Player of the Match for his hundred against Ireland, made 73 runs off 76 balls with 6 fours and a six.
Skipper Uday Saharan played his part after scoring 35 off 27. Priyanshu Moliya, Sachin Dhas and Aravelly Avinash racked up 27 not out, 20 and 12 respectively. Ateendra Subramanian was the pick of the USA bowlers after he finished with figures of 10-2-45-2.
Naman Tiwari wreaks havoc
While defending the massive score, India put USA under pressure by reducing them to 12 for 3 in 7.5 overs. Naman Tiwari dismissed Bhavya Mehta and Rishi Ramesh and while Raj Limbani got the wicket of Pranav Chettipalayam.
Siddarth Kappa put his head down to score 18 off 60 before Moliya dismissed him. Utkarsh Srivastava scored 40 runs off 73 balls and looked the most settled amongst the USA batters. Amogh Arepally and Aarin Nadkarni scored 27 and 21 respectively.
Tiwari was impressive against Ireland, and he showed his class against the USA as well, finishing with figures of 9-0-24-0. Left-arm spinner Saumy Pandey bowled an economical spell of 10-2-13-1.
