Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli’s elder brother, Vikas Kohli, took to Instagram to dismiss rumours concerning their mother Saroj Kohli’s health while urging fans to not spread fake news without proper information. There were rumors suggesting that Virat Kohli sought a break from the first two Tests against England due to his mother’s illness.

Virat Kohli withdrew from the first two Tests of the ongoing 5-match series between India and England, citing personal reasons. The star batter missed the first Test, which India lost by 28 runs after England fought back from behind in Hyderabad.

“I have noticed that there is this fake news about our mom’s health been circulating around. Let me clear that our mom is absolutely fit and fine. Also I would request everyone and also the media, not to spread such news without proper information. Thanks everyone for your concern,” Vikas wrote on his Instagram story.

Notably, it was initially rumored that Kohli requested a break from the first two Tests against England due to his mother’s illness. However, there were no official updates confirming this reason.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had urged fans and media to respect Kohli’s privacy and refrain from speculating about the nature of his reasons for withdrawing from the first two matches of the five-Test series against England.

There is no clarity on whether Virat Kohli would return to the squad for the last three Tests of the series. The BCCI selection committee will pick the squad for the last three matches in the coming days.

Notably, India suffered a major setback when KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja were ruled out of the 2nd Test, starting February 2 in Vizag. India will miss three of their finest batters in the line-up as they look to fightback against a confident England side.

India certainly missed Virat Kohli’s presence on the field in the first Test as they let a 190-run lead slip in Hyderabad. Notably, former England captain Michael Vaughan said earlier in the week that India wouldn’t have lost had Virat Kohli led the side. The star batter quit as Test captain in 2022, but his energy on the field has made life difficult for oppositions even after his descendancy from the leadership position.
