Chennai Super Kings’ captain, MS Dhoni, affectionately known as Thala by his fans, has returned to his second home, the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai, to begin preparations for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
CSK’s official social media handle shared a heartwarming video capturing the joyous scenes on the streets of Chennai as the team bus passed by. Locals erupted in joy upon spotting the star players en route to the practice session from the team hotel.
School children, pedestrians, and office-goers alike waved cheerfully, infusing a sense of excitement into their usually mundane routines. The highlight of the video was the sight of a smiling Dhoni, reciprocating the fans’ enthusiasm with waves of his own. It was evident that the skipper and his teammates, who are revered as heroes by the fans, had brought immense joy to the community.

CSK’s social media also shared a vintage look of Dhoni, who turned back the clock with his long-hair look while doing batting practice. The official handle captioned the post, “The vintage hair. The classic emotion. Mahi aara hai.”
THALA DHONI BACK TO HIS DEN
Dhoni landed in Chennai on March 5, Tuesday ahead of IPL 2024 to join the Chennai Super Kings squad. The legendary CSK captain arrived straight from Gujarat’s Jamnagar where he attended the 3-day pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
CSK were amongst the first teams to begin their pre-season camp as the players started to regroup. The players have been running hard yards in the nets in their bid to defend the title. Earlier, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar were the other star players who joined the team members for the 17th edition of IPL. Dhoni has also hit the nets and would be raring to make a comeback in the cash-rich league. The 17th edition of the tournament is expected to be the 42-year-old’s last dance in IPL.
